Be Separate
Don’t identify with your work. Or your family. Or your body. Or your political party. Or your money. Or your thoughts.
These are projects. Relationships. They’re important, but they’re not you.
Let your self be separate, for both your sake.
Then you’ll be able to stand back and ask each day, “how can I best serve this situation, this person, this moment to the best of my ability?”
You’ll be able to give your best to all of them—nothing more and nothing less—with a confidence and generosity that can only come from knowing you you are, and who you’re not.
